POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Communications and Social Media Support 

Office Location: Canada, remote work – Eastern Standard Time work hours – generally

Position Summary 

Join the Communications team at Autism Alliance of Canada’s as a Communications and Social Media Support in an 8-week summer position through the Canada Summer Jobs program. You will play a key role in advancing our mission through impactful, multi-platform communications. Your contributions will help amplify the organization’s advocacy, research, and outreach initiatives while adhering to accessibility and inclusivity standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Social Media Support:

  • Support the creation of high-quality, engaging, and accessible social media content.
  • Support the design of graphic assets for various platforms using Canva.
  • Support the maintenance  and update of social media accounts (Facebook, X, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn).
  • Support the development of Autism Alliance of Canada’s newsletters.

Communications Support:

  • Assist in maintaining communication guidelines and templates.
  • Support the production of marketing and communication materials.

Event Support:

  • Assist with communications and marketing efforts for events, including the Canadian Autism Leadership Summit.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Monitor and track social media performance metrics.
  • Support the design and monitoring of Google Ads

Administrative Support:

  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Communications team.
  • Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all platforms and materials.

Skills Development:

  • Develop expertise in creating high-quality, engaging, and accessible social media content, including graphic design using tools like Canva.
  • Enhance skills in maintaining communication guidelines, producing marketing materials, and ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.
  • Develop transferable skills in communication and collaboration while supporting autism-related initiatives.

Position requirements 

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in content creation, social media management, or communications preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, and other communication tools is an asset.
  • Experience collaborating/supporting with Autistic people, those with neurodevelopmental disabilities, their families, or professionals in autism research or service provision.
  •  Experience in research, accessibility and inclusion, or political advocacy is highly desirable.
  • Languages: Bilingual French and English preferred 
  • Priority will be given to Autistic applicants. 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and design.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices is an asset.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Slides, Gmail, Meetings), Mailchimp, Eventbrite, WordPress, Zoom, and Canva. Familiarity with Slack and Trello is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will support the Autism Alliance of Canada in strengthening its internal operations by assisting with HR-related tasks. This position focuses on enhancing the employee experience, ensuring compliance with HR policies, and contributing to organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment Support:

  • Assist with job postings, application tracking, and scheduling interviews.
  • Coordinate candidate communication to ensure a smooth recruitment process.

Onboarding and Employment Engagement:

  • Support onboarding activities, including preparing orientation materials and scheduling yearly training sessions.
  • Assist in the development of initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention.

HR Administration:

  • Provide administrative support for HR-related documentation, such as contracts and policy updates.
  • Support updates and communication of staff policies and procedures.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives to strengthen an inclusive and accessible remote workplace.
  • Support the development of training materials and tools that support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Accessibility across the organization.

Additional Support:

  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Director of Operations 
  • Support planning of staff events and training sessions.

Position Requirements

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Languages: Bilingual French and English preferred

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Join Autism Alliance of Canada for an 8-week Canada Summer Jobs placement as a University Research Assistant, where you will support our research and policy portfolio and contribute to advancing the organization’s mission Your responsibilities will include assisting with project coordination, providing research support, and performing operational and administrative tasks that drive the Alliance’s goals in autism advocacy, research.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination:
    1. Assist in the administration, coordination, and execution of various projects and initiatives.
    2. Attend committee and working group meetings related to projects and initiatives.
    3. Provide logistical support for committee meetings and workshops.
  2. Research Support:
    1. Support research efforts by gathering and organizing data to inform policy recommendations and complete research projects. 
    2. Conduct literature searches and reviews to support research activities.
    3. Summarize and synthesize relevant literature for project teams.
    4. Assist in preparing grant proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts.
  3. Administrative Support:
    1. Provide administrative support for the Scientific Director of the Autism Alliance of Canada and the Alliance’s working groups and committees.
  4. Special Projects and Collaborations:
    1. Support special projects and collaborations as determined by organizational needs, including supporting the development of a tool kit for best practices to include Autistic people in research, supporting the development of a lived advisory group, and the ECHO project. 

Position requirements 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in health-related fields with relevant research experience, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience collaborating/supporting with Autistic people, those with neurodevelopmental disabilities, their families, or professionals in autism research or service provision.
  •  Experience in research, accessibility and inclusion, or political advocacy is highly desirable.
  • Languages: Bilingual French and English preferred 
  • Priority will be given to Autistic applicants. 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Research and technical skills: Advanced understanding of research ethics, including confidentiality and consent, with a specific focus on ethical considerations for research involving people with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.

The Membership Engagement Recruitment Assistant will support Autism Alliance of Canada’s (the Alliance) efforts to build and strengthen its member network. This 8-week summer position, offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program, focuses on supporting the development of engagement strategies, fostering collaboration, and cultivating strong relationships across the membership. The role includes conducting service delivery market research and client service evaluations to inform membership growth strategies, with an emphasis on building capacity with Francophone audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Engagement Planning:

  • Work with the Communications team to analyze data collected from the 2026 Canadian Autism Leadership Summit (CALS2026) to develop a social media engagement plan targeting members and non-members.
  • Work with the team to implement the plan and track engagement metrics.

Environmental Scan of Autism Organizations:

  • Support the development of a comprehensive directory of autism organizations, evaluate their scope of activities, and identify opportunities for membership and collaboration.

Membership Support and Best Practices Development:

  • Support projects aimed at enhancing membership engagement through innovative practices.
  • Assist in the development of tools and resources to better serve Alliance members.

Community Outreach:

  • Contribute to initiatives that foster collaboration and advocacy for Canada’s Autism Strategy.

Skills Development:

  • Gain experience in community engagement, project planning, and data analysis.
  • Develop transferable skills in communication and collaboration while supporting autism-related initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with proficiency in French
  • Experience or interest in community engagement and membership development.

Position Title: Marketing Research Support

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Sponsorship Development:

  • Assist in identifying potential corporate sponsors, partnership prospects, and foundations that could provide funding for the Alliance.
  • Establish partnership criteria to support the evaluation, and qualification of prospects
  • Develop a robust prospect pipeline with detailed information and contact details
  • Collaborate with the Partnership and Community Engagement Manager  to create compelling outreach materials.
  • Maintain a database of fundraising contacts, track progress, and follow up on leads.

Grant Research and Applications:

  • Research funding opportunities, including grants and corporate partnerships, that align with the Alliance’s mission and objectives.
  • Support the preparation of grant applications and related documentation.

Event Fundraising Support:

  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising strategies for CALS 2027.
  • Help coordinate sponsor recognition activities and ensure deliverables are met as part of sponsorship agreements.

Skills Development:

  • Gain experience in fundraising, sponsorship outreach, and event support within a nonprofit environment.
  • Develop communication and organizational skills while contributing to meaningful initiatives.
