Bringing Together Francophone autism communities in Trois-Rivières, Quebec

Be Part of the Conversation! Participate in our next in-person Francophone Town Hall.

Autism Alliance of Canada is pleased to announce its fifth in-person Francophone Town Hall!

The fifth in-person Francophone Town Hall will take place in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, on Friday, June 5, 2026. This event is part of our 2025–2026 Francophone and Francophile Town Hall series, which includes both online and in-person engagements.

These events are open to all including Francophones, francophiles and multilingual participants. We welcome self-advocates, Autistic persons (first person) and /or caregivers or support persons (second person), family members,  service organizations, consultants and specialists, school boards, academic and research institutions, Francophone and community groups. Meet members of the Francophone committee and share new initiatives and common priorities.

Our goal is to bring about an autism collective voice in Francophones and Francophiles. This community-centred Francophone Town Hall will be facilitated using World Café-style conversations and will feature key local champions to inspire in-depth round table discussions. Participants will rotate among small groups, exchanging ideas on the five priority areas of Canada’s Autism Strategy in addition to identifying and examining priorities that are unique to their region. The in-person Francophone Town Hall will provide the opportunity to:

  • Identify and discuss priorities that are unique to the region
  • Connect and network in French
  • Discover diverse perspectives
  • Strengthen capacity in Francophone Autism communities
  • Build common ground to bring about a Francophone collective voice

All discussions will be centred on the Francophone priorities that are relevant and important to the region. Discussions will be facilitated and documented to capture collective insight, connect diverse perspectives, and spark collaboration to drive action at both the provincial and community levels.

*All World Café round-table discussions will be in French.

Research study for the in-person Francophone Town Halls : Bringing about the Collective Francophone Autism Voice Across Canada

The Autism Alliance of Canada is hosting in-person Francophone Town Halls across Canada. As part of these events, French-language World Café conversations supported by researchers at the University of Alberta will explore priorities and experiences within communities across the country.

Both English- and French-speakers are invited to participate. Beverages, snacks, and lunch will be provided.

These World Café sessions include small-group and whole-group discussions designed to help identify priorities in your region. Whole-group conversations will be audio-recorded for research and data analysis purposes. Participation is voluntary, there is no incentive to participate, and consent is implied through participation in whole-group discussions.

Following the sessions, recordings will be deidentified, encrypted, and securely stored in a password-protected Google Drive for up to five years. Identifiable information will be removed prior to analysis by the research team.

For questions about the study, please contact Dr. Michèle L. Hébert at mlheber2@ualberta.ca. Questions regarding participant rights may be directed to the University of Alberta Research Ethics Office at ethics@ualberta.ca or +1 (780) 492-2615 (Ethics ID: 00159185).
