Why we did this work
Autism Alliance of Canada has grown significantly as an organization- and individual-membership network. We remain committed to representing our organization members and their shared priorities in our work to advocate for an effective Canadian Autism Strategy.
The 2024 Autism Alliance of Canada Membership Asset Map survey was conducted to assess the characteristics, aspirations and needs of organization members across the country. We collected this information for two purposes: to be able to better represent our community of organization members and their priorities to government, and to facilitate collaboration opportunities between our member organizations.
Given the strengths-based approach of community asset mapping for community development, we hope this survey helps member organizations identify and use their existing resources, skills, and capacities to drive positive change within their communities.
What we did
We developed a survey with 19 questions related to organizations’ geographic location, types of services provided, membership, languages used, funding sources and needs from the federal government. Alliance staff pre-completed survey questions using information from organization websites, emailed interview invitations to organization representatives from 62 autism member organizations, and scheduled videoconference interviews with those that responded. Interviews were completed to fill in missing survey information and verify accuracy, and were completed in English between October–December 2024.
