Background
The International Autism Policy Working Group envisions a world where knowledge about the development of national autism strategies around the world is openly shared, allowing countries to learn from one another and build upon existing foundations.
More than a dozen countries have introduced comprehensive national autism strategies, recognizing the importance of addressing disparities faced by Autistic people in their own countries. Our goal is to use this valuable knowledge to guide the International Autism Policy Working Group.
Mission
This initiative aims to unite nations in a shared mission:
Advocating for inclusive policies that support Autistic people, empower their families and promote their full participation in society.
By bringing together the knowledge, experiences, and successes of countries worldwide, this international group will drive change, pushing progress forward and making sure no Autistic person is overlooked.
Objectives
The International Autism Policy Working Group will accomplish our mission by:
- Facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration among diverse groups involved in autism policy development.
- Organizing policy dialogues to influence policymaking at national and international levels.
- Fostering collaboration to address global challenges related to autism, such as access to services, acceptance, and inclusion.
- Focusing on self-identified policy priorities of Autistic people and their families and caregivers.
