  1. International Autism Policy Initiative

International Autism Policy Working Group

Background

The International Autism Policy Working Group envisions a world where knowledge about the development of national autism strategies around the world is openly shared, allowing countries to learn from one another and build upon existing foundations.

More than a dozen countries have introduced comprehensive national autism strategies, recognizing the importance of addressing disparities faced by Autistic people in their own countries. Our goal is to use this valuable knowledge to guide the International Autism Policy Working Group.

Mission

This initiative aims to unite nations in a shared mission:

Advocating for inclusive policies that support Autistic people, empower their families and promote their full participation in society.

By bringing together the knowledge, experiences, and successes of countries worldwide, this international group will drive change, pushing progress forward and making sure no Autistic person is overlooked.

Objectives

The International Autism Policy Working Group will accomplish our mission by:

  • Facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration among diverse groups involved in autism policy development.
  • Organizing policy dialogues to influence policymaking at national and international levels.
  • Fostering collaboration to address global challenges related to autism, such as access to services, acceptance, and inclusion.
  • Focusing on self-identified policy priorities of Autistic people and their families and caregivers.

Stay tuned as we announce information on how you can get involved.

Through this collective effort, we want to create momentum. We want to create a ripple effect that will reach every corner of the globe leading to a world where Autistic individuals and disabled people are respected, included and provided with the necessary supports to thrive, and above all else, have their dignity. Let us seize this moment to forge new partnerships, exchange knowledge and collaborate on innovative policy solutions.
